April 16 - Grass fire on CTH Y burned about 40 acres out of a 60 acre wild land section of land. Nine departments were called on mutual aid. It took about 4.5 hours to extinguish the blaze. More photos

12 MAR 09 -- House fire Pleasant Valley Road near Ixonia. Johnson Creek F&E sent Engine 22 and Tender 26 as mutual aide. Ten departments provided mutual aide. More photos
8 MAR 09 -- Van vs House. Falling temps with rain turning to sleet, then snow caused a few run-offs around Jefferson County. This vehicle slid off roadway, hitting house twice then landing on it's roof. Location: CTH B at CTH X. More photos.

Called to a house fire as mutual aide for Ixonia FD. Large contingent of departments on hand. Half of dwelling was saved. Johnson Creek Tender 26 called to the scene, Engine 21 on standby at Ixonia Fire Station. More photos.
Semi Vs Bridge Kills Driver
FARMINGTON TOWNSHIP, Wisconsin --Emergency services personnel were called to the scene of an accident that killed the driver of a refrigerated semi truck (Dec. 4, 2008) Thursday afternoon. A semi truck and refrigerated trailer left the westbound lane of I-94 about 2:40 p.m. veering to the north off the highway just east of the Switzke Road overpass. The truck continued up the embankment where it made impact with the bridge, killing the driver. Traffic on westbound I-94 came to a crawl as large tow truck apparatus stabilized the truck for emergency services to access the vehicle, then moved the semi back to highway level. Johnson Creek Fire & EMS was initially paged to the accident. Mutual aid was provided by Lake Mills and Helenville fire departments. Jefferson County Sheriff's Department helped provide traffic control. The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the accident. PHOTOS

Fatal accident: Car rear-ends snow plow
24 NOV 08 - The morning of the first snow of the season officials had reported an abundance of run-offs from slippery roads. At about 9:20 a.m. the department was paged to an accident at the intersection of state Highway 26 and River Drive. Upon arrivel the department faced the scene of a car which had rear-ended a county snow plow/dumptruck at a high rate of speed causing severe damage to the car, killing the driver. . Photos photos.
Two Vehicle Collision
21 NOV 08 - A collision between a car and an SUV at the intersection of Milwaukee and Union street caused injuries to the driver of the car. With Temps in the 20s EMS and fire personnel responded blocking the westbound lane of Milwaukee Street for about 30 minutes. The car's driver required medical attention.More photos.

Grain Bin Fire
21 NOV 08 - Grain bin holding more than 30 thousand bushels of whole corn was ready to ignitee at the Erb farm on CTH N near Finder Rd. Required several tons of corn be removed in order to remove the smoldering core which kept sinking into the grain.(More photos.)

Angie York was named EMT of the Year. She has been with the department for two years.
Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Carol Burbach. She has been an active firefighter with the department for 12 years.
Chimney Fire
30 SEP 08 - Union Street chimney fire. Josh Brown and Eric Murray negotiate a steep slippery pitch to dismantle a stainless chimney in order to inspect and confirm that soot and creosote no longer smolders. (More photos.)
Creek Fest
Johnson Creek Mutual Hose Company starts off on its way to the honor of Most Entertaining team in the first annual bed race during Creek Fest, Saturday. The Team includes firefighters Tim Loesing, Dolora Kleinsteiber, Jim Wolf, Josh Brown and (riding) Carol Burbach. Other team awards included Fastest, JC Riders; Best Decoration and costuming, Vetro Winery; Most Likely to Break Down, Double D's; People's Choice, Johnson Creek Historical Society. The new even was sponsored by the historical society. Creek Fest is a celebration organized by the Johnson Creek Chamber of Commerce and was a draw for a variety of events including a kick-ball tournament, children's games, displays and entertainment. Being a member of a community is more than keeping your lawn mowed and paying your taxes. The Johnson Creek Fire & EMS welcomes those interested in joining their neighbors, fellow community members, to work with our local emergency services. Current department volunteers are happy to answer questions and talk about their experiences. Additionally, you are invited to contact or drop in at the station (120 South Watertown Street). Personnel are on duty there during regular business hours weekdays, unless out on a call. They too are glad to show you around and answer your questions.
